Dirty Deeds Series

An Eye for an Eye . . .
As owner of Dirty Deeds, a tech-savvy company specializing in the age-old art of revenge, Eden Smith knows first-hand that secrecy is critical. But when a dead body washes up on the shores of Lake Michigan clutching her business card, Eden’s well-constructed world begins to fall apart. Apparently, she’s not the only one with a passion for payback, and staying alive to outsmart a killer has become her most important job of all.

A Game for a Game . . .
Hardened homicide detective Kelly Riordan is convinced Eden Smith is hiding more than she’s willing to admit. Years on the force have taught him that nothing is what it seems, and that couldn’t be truer than when it comes to investigating the alluring owner of a revenge-for-hire business. But revealing her past could put everything Eden has worked for in jeopardy. And trusting a man like Riordan goes against the very instincts that have kept her alive this long.

Revenge might be cold . . .
Xander Dade has a deep-seated regret, and the nomadic decade he’s spent doling out justice as a computer hacker hasn’t helped ease his conscience. Ever since Charlie McGovern was asked to leave the specialized revenge-for-hire business called Dirty Deeds, the curvy blonde bombshell has been stuck in his head. And now that the talented thief is being stalked by a dangerous enemy, Xander isn’t about to let her slip through his fingers—not when he’s so close to convincing her she belongs in his bed.

But desire is a dish best served hot!
Caught in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, Charlie won’t be surrendering her secrets any time soon. Not even when long-lost friend, Xander Dade, shows up, packing a sexy agenda all his own. Her movements are being tracked, and accepting his help may put everyone she loves in danger. Things are getting too hot to handle, and selling her secrets to the highest bidder may end up costing more than her heart.

Every move she makes . . .
Tanner Jones is on a mission. One with more at stake than simply proving she’s worthy of heading up the revenge-for-hire company of Dirty Deeds. The last thing she needs is a babysitter, especially when it comes to the overbearing, broody Detective Ben Archer. Not while she’s busy getting up close and personal with Casper Addison, the third—and hottest—member of the original Dirty Deeds team. He’s promised to help her take down Chicago’s biggest gun runner. That is, if Ben doesn’t succeed in taking her down first.

He’ll be watching her . . .
The minute Tanner Jones starts warming up to Casper Addison, the sexy minx becomes Ben’s top priority. And not just because Ben can’t bear the thought of the stubborn beauty cozying up with a dangerous viper whose story has more holes than the scars riddling Ben’s body. But as soon as the savvy detective discovers the damning evidence, he’s kidnapped. And once Tanner comes to his rescue, Ben has all the proof he needs that Tanner’s the one woman who can help him destroy the monster who haunts his past—and the only woman for him.

Excerpt:

The queen rushed forward and grabbed Faedrah’s shoulder, prying her from Rhys’ chest. “Thank Helios, you’re all right.” She wrapped her daughter in a hug. “I feared the worst. My foolish, headstrong girl, I thought we’d lost…” Her voice cracked and she dissolved into tears, clamping a hand along the back of Faedrah’s head.

Rhys uncurled his fingers and shoved the blade away. Vaighn stumbled back, the handle still lodged in his hand, but this little standoff they had going wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.

“Denmar.” The king jerked his head toward Rhys and he sighed as the bald guy marched forward, a set of iron handcuffs dangling from his meaty hand.

They weren’t getting it. Rhys shook his head. A set of shackles? Come on, that was never gonna be enough.

“You as well, Fandorn.” The king strode forward and placed one hand on his wife’s back, the other circling Faedrah’s waist so he could pull both women into his arms. “Pending the decision of his fate, the son of Gaelleod will be our guest in the dungeons. Fortify his cell with a spell.”

Now they were talking. Relief lowered his shoulders and Rhys breathed a little easier. Until he could figure out what he was up against, they needed to beef up security around this joint.

“Then you imprison me as well, father.” Faedrah pushed out of her parents’ arms and held up her wrists at Rhys’ side. “Rhys saved my life. He deserves your punishment no more than I.”

Oh, for Christ’s sake. He rolled his eyes. The last place she was going was the creepy underbelly of the castle. Especially with him. If her dad didn’t make sure of it, he would.

“Aye, Faedrah.” The king’s eyes softened as he looked at his daughter. “Sparing you harm is the one thing which stays his execution.”

Rhys lifted his hands, the thick metal cooled his skin, and Faedrah flinched as Denmar snapped the locks home. She spun and her arms flew around Rhys’ neck, pulling him down until his cheeks were buried in the soft mass of her hair. “I will suffer every moment we are parted, my love. Your confinement will be swift, I swear it.”

God, if only he could pull her close and get lost in her kisses, forget who he was for even a few brief seconds. But pretending the iron cuffs could hold him was best. Safest.

“It’s all right,” he whispered. “I’ll figure this out.” He kissed her ear. “I’m not going anywhere.”

A pair of hands grabbed his shoulders and wrenched him out of her arms. Rhys turned, keeping their gazes locked as he was prodded toward the door.

He would go. He would be the ideal prisoner behind a set of iron bars. But only because doing so was in Faedrah’s best interest.

At least, for now…

Lowering his chin, he smiled.

Excerpt:

“I’m laughing at you. Is that so bad?” He slid a hand over her perky round ass and shoved her hips forward, grinding his cock into her belly. Her tough-as-nails exterior didn’t scare him. In fact, it made him horny as hell. Another thing she’d be wise to remember.

A gasp parted her lips and she slapped both hands to his chest. “I do not take kindly to your impertinence, sir.”

“Which is exactly why you need to understand a little good-natured ribbing doesn’t change how I feel.” He grabbed the mouth vent of her helmet and pried it off her head. When it came to Faedrah, there was only one way to show her where he stood.

She shook out her hair and the tips tickled his fingers. His shaft pulsed as he gathered the heavy mass along her back and dragged her lips to his.

The resistance on his chest firmed before she relaxed beneath him. Her lips parted and he accepted the cue to dip his tongue inside. She ran her palms under the unzipped sides of his leather jacket and fisted his shirt, tugging him closer, opening wider.

Christ, she drove him crazy. It was impossible he could ever get enough. He dropped the helmet and a hollow clunk echoed down the alley as he clasped her neck, devouring her lips again and again, nipping and sucking. The silky glide of her tongue, the hungry way she matched him stroke for stroke. Her flavor was like bathing in a breath of fresh air. Everything about her cooled his raw nerves and, at the same time, they were so alike—defiant, tough and persistently itching for a fight.

He scooped her up by the thighs, wrapped her long legs around his waist and strode forward, slamming her against the side of his building. She shuddered in his arms, shoved a hand under his dego-t and raked her nails down his spine. Shit, the way she responded to him, how she seemed to know exactly what he needed made him harder than the brick at her back. If it wasn’t for the fucked-up mess they were in, he’d carry her back upstairs and bury himself inside her until all this bullshit about wizards and kingdoms and alternate realms was nothing but a bad memory.

“Fuck, Faedrah.” He broke away from her lips, balancing his forehead against hers, their bodies swaying. “When I’m near you, I can’t think straight.”

Her heavy breaths matched his, but her brow twitched like he’d just admitted where Hoffa was buried. “I shall do my best to use that information to my fullest advantage.”

He chuckled. One thing was for sure. Life with her would never be boring. “You got any leftover doubts about whose side I’m on?”

“None whatsoever.”

“Good. Remember that moving forward.”

Excerpt:

He gripped her wrist, forcing her knuckles deeper into thick muscle as he strode forward. She retreated the same distance to reclaim some space. Matching her pace for pace, he held firm, the tempo of their steps a dangerous dance relaying a fierce contest of wills.

Her back slammed the wall and he closed in, smacking his palms to the wooden planks on either side of her head. “Where did you learn to move like that?” She lowered her lashes to avoid his inspection, but he dodged low, keeping their gazes locked. “And spare me the half-truths, Faedrah. You and I both know lying to me is a waste of time.”

Dipping her knees, she tried to escape the prison of his arms yet he moved with her, trapping her in place with the rigid tension in his thighs. “I can’t help you if you don’t let me in. Dammit, I can’t protect you unless you tell me what you’re hiding.”

Frustration tightened her jaw, and she fisted the fabric of his shirt. If she confessed, if she allowed the slightest indication of her leap through the veil, he would undoubtedly think her deranged.

Her uncles had warned her. Magic did not exist in this place. To risk that Rhys’ admiration for her would disintegrate to disgust, to exchange the lust in his gaze for pity… Goddesses wept, she would rather disengage from her quest altogether than to have him peer upon her as if her wits had fled.

“Why won’t you trust me?” His hands left the wall for her cheeks. The calloused tips of his thumbs swept the thin skin beneath her lashes. “I swear to God, whoever put that fear in your eyes is a dead man.”

She could not reason with him so close. All thought except banishing the sharp fury from his gaze was lost beneath the heady musk of his skin, the invitation of his lips hovering a breath from hers.

A whimper scuffed her throat as she ran her palm up his biceps, along his shoulder to scrape her nails through the short hair at his nape. His brow twitched. Arousal darkened his jade irises to the mystery of a shadowed forest, and he squinted.

“Do not be angry with me.” Rising on the tips of her toes, she urged him near. She needed him to believe in her. Despite the secrets she guarded. Regardless of the uncertainties between them. His faith she could truly embody the woman in his paintings was the one thing to hold her steady and sure amid the unforeseeable tempest she faced. “For all my duplicity, I do not think I could bear it.”

“Oh, baby.” He sighed, shook his head, and dropped his lips to hers.

Excerpt:

Oomph!

The impact of the fall drove the breath from his lungs. Caedmon clamped his jaw shut as a wave of nausea rolled through his system and he waited for his faculties to realign. He blinked, and quickly took stock of their surroundings.

Down the narrow hall at his feet, a dim light cast enough illumination to explain the patterned texture scratching his back. He and his lady lay on a decorative rug, her petite form sprawled along the length of his. The tight grip he held on her waist went slack with relief. Thank the nine she’d landed on top. His weight would have assuredly crushed her, had their positions been reversed.

A frown tightened his brow as he trailed his focus over their bare feet, along their tangled, naked limbs, to the most enchantingly pert bottom he’d ever been blessed to admire. His scowl deepened. Goddesses wept, what had happened to their clothes?

Memories of when his lady had first come through the mirror slammed into place, almost as if they’d been hindered by the ether of worlds crossed. Of course. Nothing of either realm, save her and the key, could bridge the veil…except, based on his own auspicious arrival, those fated souls she chose to traverse with.

To complain of her state of undress held all the appeal of slicing his tongue out with a sharp blade, as did the departure of her luscious breasts warming his chest. Yet the circumstances surrounding such an inconvenience could not be ignored. Until their location and level of safety had been determined, his first task was to ensure their needs were well met.

Her soft moan heated the side of his throat and she shifted against him. He smoothed a hand up her back, her skin a velvet shroud against the rough rasp of his palm, and applied a slight squeeze to her shoulder. “My love—”

“Shhh!”

Caedmon froze, his senses honed to the fine point of a needle. The hushed demand for silence had come from above and to his right. In whatever place they’d landed, they were not alone.

He strained for any additional sound past the din of his pulse in his ears. Rowena yawned and his teeth clacked together when she ran the delicate tips of her fingers up and down the sides of his swiftly lengthening shaft.

“Well, hello there,” she whispered.

A frenzied thrashing and the ominous crash of shattering glass had him clutching his lady close as he scrambled to his feet. He stood his love on the floor, steadied her shoulders and span as two stinging claps bathed the room in a bright glow.

He raised his hand, fingers splayed to shade his view. The wizard who’d summoned the light sat bolt upright on his sleeping pallet, bare-chested, the blankets lying crumpled about his waist. He locked his wide blue eyes onto Caedmon, his narrow face pale with shock, and the barest hint of recognition tickled the back of Caedmon’s mind.

He squinted. Where had he seen this man’s face before?

The moment stretched as they assessed each other across the room. The steady drip of water from a broken glass upon a small beside table kept time with the weighted beat of Caedmon’s heart.

“Hey.” His lady ran her palm down his arm, the pointed tips of her breasts prodding his back as she stood on tiptoe and peered over his shoulder. “What’s going on?”

The wizard sharply inhaled and slapped a hand to his chest. If possible, his eyes widened farther still. “Rowena?”

Her soft chuckle alleviated a small portion of the tension pervading the room and Caedmon slowly straightened from his defensive stance. This stranger knew her, but in what capacity?

“Hey, Oliver. I see you kept the armoire.” She pointed toward the far wall and Caedmon glanced to his left.

The door hung open, the veil shimmering inside a gilded frame, the glass smooth and intact. Visions of the past slowly coalesced in his memories—an enchanting white sorceress standing opposite the veil and, seated at her side, a false god by the name of…Ah-lee.

Caedmon jerked his head back around and studied the wizard’s closely cropped sandy hair, the patrician nose and high unlined brow. Yes, yes, this man and the one who’d previously accused him of betraying his lady’s trust were one in the same. Not a wizard, a friend. A friend whose rightful name was Oliver. Caedmon relaxed his fisted hands. The Dregg leader had spoken true. The nine goddesses blessed their purpose, and had seen fit to deliver them within the shelter of a close ally.

The rumpled covers on the far side of the bed shifted and a muscled arm stretched high into the air. “What’s with all the noise?”

A form rose to sitting, and Caedmon’s gut clenched when a young man raked a tousled mop of dark hair back from his forehead. He glanced between Oliver and his chamber mate. Goddesses tits, were the two involved in a more intimate way? In his realm, any man who dallied about in such a way would be tried and hanged for crimes against morality.

The dark eyebrows adorning the young man’s face shot into the air and he grasped Oliver’s forearm, surprised delight parting his lips. “You silly, romantic fool. Our anniversary’s not for another two months.”

And evidently, they expected participants in whatever they concocted beneath those satin sheets. Caedmon grabbed a small pillow from a nearby chair and crammed it over his crotch.

“No, Jon.” Oliver rolled his eyes, shaking his head. “Remember I told you about the magic mirror in Rowena’s armoire?”

“Oh, that.” The broad shoulders of the dark-haired man lowered to a more natural position and he wiggled his fingers at Oliver. “I thought you were speaking metaphorically, not literally.”

The two men faced Caedmon and his love, and the one named Jon let his focus linger over Caedmon’s chest, his torso and arms. A small portion of the blankets tented near Jon’s groin. “My God, you were right. He is a sexy English panther.”

Or mayhap they preferred only male collaborators in their wanton romp through debauchery. Caedmon scowled. For all the tits in paradise, what disturbing revelations were next? A growl of warning vibrated the lining of his throat as he slung an arm backward around his love and inched them toward the hall. Friend or foe, these men dared pursue such liberties at their own risk.

Jon clasped his hands before his chest. “Oh, and he purrs!”

Oliver narrowed his eyes at his companion. A tense moment passed between the two men before he swung his head back around and searched Rowena’s face. “My God, doll, you look fabulous.” He crossed his arms. “Now, would you care to tell me where the hell you’ve been?”
